Reflecting on the Student Public Relations Association

The William Paterson University Student Public Relations Association is an on-campus Public Relations club for communication and PR major students who come together to network, attend seminars, and listen to PR specialists who are already in the industry. They can analyze current trends in the PR world, give career tips, and offer real-time mentorship opportunities for all members.

The club also invites professionals from various fields to help students sharpen interview skills, personal bio’s, resumes, and gives tips on how to leverage the use of social media in this digital age. If a student does not have a good headshot for job profiles, the SPRA will help you get a shot that portrays the best image for employers. In addition to having good and useful network avenues, the wealth of information this club gives its members regarding on-campus and

off-campus employment, internship opportunities, and insight on academic programs is priceless

information that can make a huge difference in a student’s college experience, and perhaps

transcend beyond the school.

They say it’s always good to save the best for the last. When I was joining SPRA, I had no idea that it was backed up by strong faculty members in the communication department, not just in name but in reality as they attended meetings, gave directions, and offer advisement on the spot, which is immensely helpful as we tend not to know what direction to take academically or the career path to follow. SPRA is the total package, and if any student needs a club that can add value to their college experience, then join the SPRA today.
