The 6th Annual PR Career and Internship Fair was a success!
Over 13 employers attended and hired WPU students and grads for paid internships and entry level job positions.
One of the notable firms included Quinn PR, which we visited on our 2016 NYC trip!
Over 50 students of various majors attended the Fair in hopes of getting an internship or job.
Although some of them were nervous to speak to potential employers, many students came prepared with resumes and portfolios on hand. The SPRA also created a company brochure so that students wouldn't be walking up to employers blindly. Before the Fair, the club hosted a series of career development workshops throughout September and October. Various professors, including the SPRA adviser Lorra Brown, relayed their professional experience to members and students to prepare them for networking at the Fair. Some of the workshops included:
Resume building
Interview tactics
Social media success
As students networked with various PR and Communications related firms, they also had the opportunity to take professional head shots and candids outside of the Fair. Some students opted for a white background,
While others enjoyed the colors of the COMM department's step & repeat.
Students used these head shots on social media like LinkedIn to showcase their professional sides and set themselves apart.
We can't wait to see what's in store for the 2017 Fair, and we hope that you'll be there!
